2009年8月21日、オーストラリア西部キンバリー沖のモンタラ油田で原油が流出する事故が発生した。
その海域を事故発生から12日後の9月2日にALOS PALSARにて観測した。

東インド洋における原油流出事故海域のPALSAR画像
2006年8月14日、日本時間15時(現地時間12時)頃、東インド洋のグレートニコバル島西方沖約290海里の洋上で原油(軽質油)4,200tonが流出する事故が発生している。その海域を事故発生から4日後の18日現地時間10時にALOS PALSARにて観測した。
